After giving 50 years of selfless service to our nation, a few short weeks ago, President Joe Biden once again chose country over self.
Joe lost the country’s confidence in an early debate of his own choosing, hastening his eventual departure from the race. His frail, hesitant performance convinced supporters and detractors alike that his decision to run for a second term was a wrong one. Some of his poor performance could be attributed to a childhood stammer that evidenced itself under the pressure of such a momentous debate. Many viewers wrongly concluded that his speech impediment was proof of his inability to lead the country again. But his frequent hesitancy to answer some questions, to punch back and take the imitative against Trump were further evidence of a man who was slipping.
His stiff gate, mouth agape and look of befuddlement did him in as some medical professionals began to conclude that Parkinson’s disease could be responsible for his troubles.
After two weeks of pressure building in his own party for him to leave the race, with heads of the party, including Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, beseeching him to consider stepping away from the race, the moment came at 1:45 P.M. on a Sunday afternoon.
